Little and Often
The modelling mojo is strong currently and I’m making the most of it. Visiting the modelling bench little and often, trying to get something done every day means that progress is swift and seeing the results appear helps inspire me to keep going back and doing some more.
On the bench has been two more buildings, a small Petite Properties stable block, a nod to the line’s origins as a horse worked tramway but now used as a store and a Port Wynnstay shed kit to be used as an office come bothy.
Both buildings have progressed quickly due to grabbing the odd ten minutes here and there to glue a couple of pieces together before leaving by the glue to dry and coming back later.
The stable block has been covered with Slaters embossed styrene, cut out as one piece, then scored and wrapped round the building to eliminate corner joints. The Port Wynnstay shed kit is a must, there was a time when almost every 7mm scale standard and narrow gauge layout had one of these. We in the Trent Valley Group used to play ‘spot the shed’ at exhibitions.
Both buildings are now ready for painting, as is a cottage that I’d previously assembled. When they’re painted, all the main buildings for the layout will be completed, there might be a garden shed to build when I get round to the scenery but will see what fits in when I get there. For now I will be getting the paint brushes out.
