Engine Tart At Large

 

One feature of a trip to Beamish at Steam Fair time is the appearance of local photographer, Dave Hewitt. Dave is such a regular visitor that he is known so well on the railway side (through longevity and a very good sense of where not to stand) that he is greeted like a long lost friend and often given access barred to others. Plus he takes excellent photographs which helps publicise Beamish. A win-win situation all round. 

Dave appeared Sunday lunchtime just after we’d taken over Glyder, all the trucks were quickly assembled and we were soon staging run pasts for his benefit. 

Paul and I have history with Dave, previously we had a Hunslet each and this fine photo appeared on the cover of Narrow Gauge World magazine!
