The Layout That Came In From The Cold
It’s amazing how a deadline can motivate you! Mickleover is now just over a fortnight away and Wheal Ponder as a work in progress is looking far more presentable. The boards have now been primed and painted a fetching shade of green called ‘crocodile’ and a sky painted using the appropriately named ‘light rain’ paint. In time I might attempt a more detailed backscene, but I’ll take presentable currently.
Lighting has been added using some clip on LED lights recommended by my mate Chris from using them on his trade stand at shows. Inexpensive, they can display cold, warm or daylight white and a choice of ten levels of brightness. These might be replaced by a more permanent set up at some point, but they do show that basic layout lighting is relatively straight forward to achieve
The layout has been brought down from the attic to the study to work on in greater comfort. Also means that I don’t have two flights of stairs between my modelling desk and the layout. This will make progress easier as it means I can trial fit buildings as I progress them, but it does mean the distraction of playing trains is ever present.
Looking at the layout there seems so much to do, but preferring to take a glass is half full approach, looking at the layout set up in the study, it’s amazing how far Wheal Ponder has come in three months.
