Wriggly Tin
Following on from the waiting room, I’ve been working on two more buildings for the layout. One is intended to act as a view blocker for the lines disappearing into the fiddle yard and a second to sit on the opposite side of the layout to balance the scene.
The first is a Tin Tabernacle, a kit I’ve had for a little while and is from a firm called Treacle Lane who I can no longer find on the web. (Though I see Intentio now list a very similar if not the same building on their website). Now I do rather like a wriggly tin building and this is a very attractive design based on “The Church In The Woods” in Hampshire. A laser cut kit of mostly MDF, I’ve used corrugated foil from Kitwood Hill Models for the wriggly tin. It’s quite a job to cut and shape the pieces because of how delicate they are, but in my view the results are worth the work.
The second building, much less advanced, is a Petite Properties house kit. I like the idea of detailing the conservatory with flowers and tomatoes growing and set it inside a vegetable garden. So far I’ve just glued the basic shell together so that it gives me an idea of how the layout will look.
All three have been put to one side now, it’s too cold to be spraying primer and I am moving on to two pivotal jobs on the layout. Designing and building the clay dry and fitting back scene and fascia boards to the layout.
