A Splash Of Colour

It has been a busy fortnight at the modelling bench since NG North.

The stable block and the shed are both finished, also added has been a coal store for the linhay, bought from 422 Modelmaking at NG North. Completed within a fortnight is a record for me!

The stable block was finished in very similar fashion to the linhay I built earlier. They’re supposed to be similar vintage buildings after all. The roof may get a little more weathering but I’m undecided currently.

The shed/office/bothy is the Port Wynnstay shed with a wriggly tin roof added. I’ve got the hang of using acrylic paints and now starting to think I’m getting the best out of them. For Christmas, Santa bought me the Lifecolor ‘Weathered Wood’ set of six paints and they’ve been used on both the shed and the coaling stage and I’m really pleased with how they’ve come out.

With the buildings to the rear of the layout completed, I’m moving on to the cottage and outbuildings that will sit at the front of the layout before moving on to terraforming, greenery and setting them all into the scene.
